Bella, a fisherman's best friend

This summer my parents rented a house up in the mountains, in Evergreen, CO for about 6 weeks. We stayed up there with them one weekend to fish and relax together, and brought the "Bella dog" as my dad likes to call her.

We took her up to the Dream Stream b/c we thought the open meadows would be good for her, but there were so many thistles and other precarious plants around that walking was difficult for her. I ended up carrying her most of the day! As far as the fishing goes, Danny and my dad caught lots of fish, and my mom even caught a good one on a spinner. Bella enjoyed being out in the sun and being carried like a princess all day.

Here's some pics from Bella's first fishing trip:

TroutShout Day 1

Today we launched the skeleton of TroutShout.com.  I hope that someday this site has a thriving community of fishermen and friends, sharing stories, photos, reviews and more.

Right now users can establish a profile, maintain a blog, post photos to online albums, and participate in forums.  Eventually we'll have merchant directories, fishing reports, gear reviews and more.  The hope is that the community aspect remains central, but I think these peripheral components will add more value to the site.

Stay tuned as we'll be rolling out more features for this site week by week.

Here's to a winter of good fishing!

The Fishing Men in My Life

I have a husband, dad, father-in-law, and brother-in-law that all love fishing! Here's a blog entry devoted to them and this passion that unites them :) They've yet to do a trip with all 4 of them together, but maybe sometime soon!

Trip to Salida

For my birthday weekend, we went down to Salida, CO to rest and relax... we golfed, fished, ate good food, and slept in for the first time in months since we were sans Bella, our 8 month old Beagle.

I hate to say it, but it's true... I got skunked. The whole weekend I didn't even catch one fish. :( Most of the weekend the weather was super windy and cold, not ideal fishing weather. However, my husband, Danny, managed to catch quite a few with his superior fly-fishing skills, and most of all his superior patience.

I have a confession: I definitely enjoy catching more than fishing. If I'm not getting many hits after 15 or 20 minutes, I'm usually ready to just sit on the bank and watch, enjoying the beautiful scenery and quick rush of the river.

Here's a nice pic of me in the Arkansas:

My First Blog Ever

So, here I am... typing up my first blog ever... and a fishing blog of all things :)

I guess that seems appropriate since I work for a fly-fishing company. Danny and I didn't get out on the water this year as much as we would've liked, but hope that next year brings many opportunities for more catching than fishing. Afterall, I need a big fish photo for next year's catalog! What else will the new year bring? Maybe a fly tying class, maybe a tropical vacation with our first saltwater fly-fishing adventure, maybe my first monster TROUT... guess we'll have to see.
